| | Asylum - Sedro Woolley - Washington < on 3/16/2007 10:33 PM >
| | | I've seen that many of you have speculated about this Asylum. Here's my quick story: I've been looking for places to explore for a week or so, and I came across this forum. I saw your thread on the Asylum, and might I say that it is quite detailed! I'm not surprised that any of you have been able to get pictures, because the owner is extremely paranoid and kindof a... not nice person. I was able to go there because my brother was shooting a movie there. It cost him $1000 a day. I was 17. The security there is extremely tight, and we almost got arrested while we had a PERMIT to do our film there because they were so paranoid. It is understandable, given its purpose. I know this isn't quite UE... since I didn't sneak in, but I figure that you might want to see it anyway. Everything in the facility is locked, outside doors, as well as many inside doors. There are uplifted floor tiles with asbestos warnings everywhere. In addition, the top floor says that you need some hardcore filtration devices before you can enter. I'm not just talking about a respirator. Some areas of the abandoned part of the facility have been maintained for films and such. Bloody Mary, my brother's film, and a couple others have been filmed there. It is speculated that the owner of the facility will begin a remodel. There is plenty of material evidence of this (paint, tools, etc), but I do not think that he plans to anytime soon, knowing him.
Because I was young and not too into photography, I did not have a digital camera. I DID, however, have a video camera with me at the time to take 'behind-the-scenes' documentation. With this I took still images. So... I appologize for the poor image quality. I haven't adjusted these at all (other than resize to 640x480). What I have to say about it being haunted: while we were given an intial and formal introduction to the facility, a janitor took us around to show us our boundries. When we asked him what he thought of the hauntings, he proceeded to tell us his story of his supposed encounter with the ghost of the building. He said that on two (I think it was two) separate occasions, he had been making his rounds within the building. During this, he came around a corner to see a female nurse figure escoring an unknown figure in a wheelchair. He said that she opened her mouth and her teeth were like sharks. He ran away. This was by the lobotomy room, and as he described, looked exactly like the nurse who locked herself in the observation chamber, slit her wrists, and forced her collegues to watch her bleed to death. This man looked scared to death while telling the story, I doubt in the very least he was lying about his encounter. I don't believe in ghosts, but when I entered that room, I felt cold, my heart began beating faster, and my blood pressure skyrocked. I almost passed out, actually. Very interesting experience. The rest of the crew who entered that room said they felt the same way. If I go back to that building, I don't plan on going into that room again. I have also linked a video of me walking around with my video camera within the facility. I think that there might also be some footage of the cannary/farm in the surrounding area. Please right click and save target as. Thank you.
(I don't know why the last images are not working...) 33 meg video of me walking around facility during filming. Please right click and save target as. http://www.thereal...secration_0001.wmv [last edit 3/16/2007 10:36 PM by therealmr - edited 1 times]

| | | Cool stuff!! I especially love the hallway shots. I've always wanted to do a bit of abandoned building exploring, but then as you say, this place isn't utterly abandoned. Seems funny the place would be so secured; can there really be that much money in movies/films shot in Sedro Woolley? ;-> I wouldn't think so, but then I know the film industry ... well ... not at all!! Regards, MoleNet94

| | | Man, those are great. Haunting and eerie. I'm always amazed at how places tend to take on some of the emotional resonance of the people who lived there, or the events that transpired there. You can really feel that in these shots, makes me want to wander around in there in a big way. "Use pump in new Thorazine bottles..." Creepy.

don't worry, that movie is a running joke in Bellingham... haha. I am surprised it was even released. http://whatisdesecration.com/ That's another trailer that was filmed in the area.
