| | | | 1st hdr....probably overdone < on 2/11/2007 3:30 PM >
| | | so i just started messing with hdr so this shot is probably way overdone. i intend to put it to more subtle use in the future, but its so fun getting all crazy...so let me know what you think. haven't paid the money for it yet hence the watermark...

| | | Deffinatly neat, but you'll get people asking why. I like it.

| | | i have a free version and mine doesn't have watermarks.. lol. what's that all about.. Anywho, yeah, it's a little overdone. it should look natural when HDR's done right. I can't do it right to save my life! but yeah.. the stream in the middle looks really weird. Post up a singe exposure. I want to see what it looks ike without HDR...

| | | Despite this being very, very heavily processed in hdr software, you have no highlights to speak of, and no details in the shadows. Or the midtones, come to think of it. It looks almost posterized. Your radius is set way too high, turn all the settings and options way the hell down. This picture has completely missed the point of the meaning of the term 'high dynamic range.' Google for some tutorials on how to use hdr software (and what it's supposed to be for), try again and repost your new efforts, and you'll probably get some more useful critique. Also, while you're at it, look up colour correction tips, this picture is suffering from a crazy magenta haze over the whole thing. General tip for the future (for all posters, not just you): if, while posting, you think it's "probably way overdone," you're right, it is. Start over, read, google, learn, try harder, experiment more, and post something you might actually be proud of. I can't honestly critique something you don't seem to give a rat's ass about, and if you don't care, why should anyone else?

| | | For a second I thought I was on shrooms. It was awesome. I like it, but yeah, what everyone else said. Way too overdone, way too surreal.

| | | heres a question for anyone willing to answer...this was my very first attempt and i had only a little time to mess with it, so i agree its not even a good attempt. but i just wanted to see what people thought of this sort of thing....so my question is i have seen some peoples work using hdr where pictures almost come out looking very "fantasy". if you are going for that look with your work instead of realism, any suggestions? id like to know how to be able to go both routes using hdr.

| | | Google, it's amazing what you can find on the first 2 pages of a search for 'hdr' and another one for 'hdr tutorial.' How to use hdr for its intended purpose: http://www.cambrid...-dynamic-range.htm How to make fake paintings (scroll down to nov. 14/06 entry): http://infinitisim.../hdr101/?page_id=4 Either way, the key is the translation from the hdr image back to normal dynamic range (tone mapping I believe is the term). Although there's all kinds of other filters and junk in photoshop that'll make your photos look funky without having to use so much memory and work with hdr. Hell, just open up the shadow/highlights tool and use the defaults or play with them a bit. Then you only have to take one photo, and not go through all the hassle and work involved with proper hdr imaging, if all you want is a 'fantasy' look.

| | | As others have stated....this is way overdone. There's no sense in this. HDR is a creative tool and when done tastefully, can produce stunning results. But this is just insane.

| | | I'm actually a really big fan of it - I agree the water/gold is overblown, and the rocks are a tad too blue for my tastes, but it's an amazing image. Don't suppose you'd like to send me the full-size? >.> It's almost desktop-worthy.
