| | | I had been searching on Google Earth and the local GIS to see what was surrounding a few of my favorite local spots, as well as to see who owns them. In the first one, I was just extremely curious as to why there was a gate near the trash dump that said "Police Jurisdiction" on it..... and it seems to show at least 4 buildings. I want to check it out before it goes away.... there are sooooooo many new subdivisions going up around there, it just seems like a matter of time before it will be gone. So far, I haven't located an easy back way in. And the second pic seems to show a few buildings in the woods behind where I had found part of an old canal. I have found a back way into that, I just haven't gotten to go out there yet to really chack into it. So, I guess, what I am wondering is.... do these spots even look worth the effort? And is there anyone in the area (Lowcountry South Carolina) that would be interested in checking them out with me? They are located in Moncks Corner, SC.

| | | Around here the 'police property' located on the city dump is for training K9s.

| | | I know that much of the property on the same side of the road as the dump is marked as being police jurisdiction. I'm not sure if it is used for training.... I should probably try to find out before I do anything stupid, huh? What has me intrigued about that particular property is that I have found other old homes in the woods surrounding it, that plantations ( fancy word for "farm" were very common in this county, and that I know it will most likely soon be gone, since that there are so many new subdivisions being built around here. In fact, there is one being built, that right beside it right now. And the plantation land a mile from it has already been turned into a subdivision. There is state website that lists all of the plantations in SC, and many, many of them are completely gone. And the place by the canal.... I know by checking the local GIS, its owned by the same family as another very interesting abandoned home that I have been to.... and I can't find any record of the "canal" being part of the original one...... and I can't figure out what else it could be used for. I want to see what that cluster of buildings in the woods are. Maybe put some puzzle pieces together. I'm intrigued..... Here are a few pics of the "canal", and of the house that is owned by the same person.
