| | Useful Books for UE research < on 11/3/2006 2:43 AM >
| | | I have a great collection of books, so after searching for this topic I didn't find a cohesive thread for it, so I made one. What books have you found useful, either for photographic record or detailed information for UE'ing? I've liked these titles recently: Access All Areas, Ninjalicious. Ghostly Ruins: America's Forgotten Architecture, Harry Skrdla. American Ruins, Camilo Jose Vergara. New York Underground, Julia Solis. Invisible Frontier: Exploring the Tunnels, Ruins, and Rooftops of Hidden New York, L.B. Deyo, David Leibowitz. The Canadian Niagara Power Company, Norman R. Ball. Please add what you've found to be useful/worthwhile reading.

This isn't so much a UE book as it is a manual of how to be artsily holier-than-thou.

| | | How about the Anarchist's Cookbook? There is a lot of info on infiltration and how to trick alarms and electronics and whatnot.

I personally find the "cookbook" to be complete and utter bullshit. It was a fun piece of work (I refuse to use "literature" with this "book") to read when I was 10-13.

| | | The Anarchist cookbook is a completely inaccurate piece of shit. Please do not attempt to do anything described in that book, unless you're looking to inflict harm on yourself. What I've found to be useful is to go to your local library and find the "local" section. See if there are any surveys done by your cities historical society. Me and a buddy did this and found a lot of information on a ton of places. Quite a lot of the places were 100+ yrs old. However, a lot of the buildings are still inhabited. Nonetheless, it's still a good resource for local stuff.

| | | Yeah, obviously it is a little out of date, but you just have to look through it a little bit. It's not that bad.

| | | I recently picked up Hopping Freight Trains in America (Littlejohn). Good for anyone who might explore a railyard as well as those who might want to hop. Good safety info and history.
It seemed like a good idea at the time... |
