| | | Today I tried placemarking my conquests in GEarth. Two gripes about this technique: First, placemarks can overwhelm the actual map. Second, if you don't manually retain you'll lose them to Unsaved Data Purgatory. Anybody tried this?

| | | Yeah, I got into the habit of doing this as I visited a location. I eventually forgot about it, probably should start back up again.

| | | I mark everything on Goog. Places I've seen, places I want to see, places I've been told about, etc. I've also used it to visually search for mine tailing piles. It does start to get a bit messy on the map after a bit, but its a righteous tool.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

Right click on a placemark and hit 'properties.' In the second tab you can change the appearance of the placemark. Color, scale, that kind of thing.

| | | I find that the images that google earth has of the areas I'm interested in are so brutally low-res that it's practically useless for scouting. I sometimes have a hard time pinpointing something, even when I know what I'm looking for. Of course, I explore in the armpit of the world. Once you get north of Toronto, that thing is useless.

| | | Again, low-res images in Canada. Oh well. Some counties have high res photography on their websites. Very handy.

The reason I did that was for the proliferation of neat bridges up and down the Schuykill. I never said that it was all abandonments, or, for that matter, all UE locations.

| | | I've just started doing this as well. I think you can ever add a photo pop-up for each so you can see what the site is if you load a pic of it into the system. Can these files be shared? Like could I make the one for my city downloadable?

I'm sorry but I think you just called me stupid. Duuuhhhhhhh, what, duuuuhhh. I've never heard anyone refer to UE as "UERing" so it's kind of a lame joke that probably served nothing but make you look lame, you dorkus. Your idea of subtle irony is ridiculous and dumb.

| | | GE is great, not just for detail or scouting, but for getting you organized. Not to mention that site unseen, I could plug in USGS (or other) coords and it would fly me to a potential target. I think it gives you a good "overview"
I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying. |
