High wading boots or closed toe sandals for draining?

So, what do you prefer for draining, knee-high waders or closed toe sailing-style sandals?

I've only been draining once, and my knee-high waders worked fine. But I recently aquired a very nice pair of of closed-toe sailing sandals... So I'm wondering if you would think they would work better.

Sandals allow things to get to your feet: leeches, chemicals in the runoff, stickers from plants, etc. I'd go with waders.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

I use hiking boots. I'll toss on the ubers if the water is deeper than 3-4".

Waders. Steel-toed rubber boots. Steel-toed work boots.

Just me...but I'm nervous around hypodermics that get washed into drains.

I had a fine pair of hiking boots that survived some hardcore cave trips. Did one drain with them and they came apart. Something in the water dissolved the glue in them. I would stick with rubber boots. I have knee highs, thigh highs and chest waders.

EEEEWWWW GROOOOSOlio yeah if you go in toesandals you will come out with ratshit under your toenails. I did it with running shoes, just make sure you dont step in water or rat poop. ALSO! DO NOT touch the white fungus that looks like big dead spiders!
remember where you are, i'd suggest not getting lost. should use glo-ticks in a really complicated system

I also don't think that kneehigh waders would be very comfy in a 4' tube just waterproof your expensive leather combat boots. (which every explorer should not be without)
