| | | hey, i dont have any really great pics... it was way too dark for that, but heres some alright ones of all that i got. i'm planning on going soon at either dawn or dusk. trying to get some better pictures of the rooms, and the outside of the building. Graffiti Board
Pill Bottle and some lamps
This table is about 40 feet long. maybe longer. and has lamps all the way down.
Pool Table
pretty neat actually, these stairs led to the roof. When closed, the door to the roof is flush with the ceiling
this worked good with my flashlights. i'm only about 15 yards from a 2 lane road that gets a decent amount of traffic... even at 2 in the morning apparently.
not really sure what the deal with this is

| | | Thank you for these photos! Were you able to get into any of the empty silos, via side entry doors or the underground stairwells?

no i wasn't, all of the underground silos have about an inch of concrete on top of them. i'm still trying to figure out how i'm going to do that... but it will be done.

| | | Thanks for your reply. As I remember from past research the primary access waypoints for personnel were all via underground passageways, and the top cover of the silos was only opened for certaintypes of meintenance, and, of course, automatically at launch time. So there is a good chance that the ground-level entreances to these underground passages may still be accessible. I worked at one time in the 1970s with a man -- an electronics technician -- who had worked for years in the USA and several NATO ally countries as a civilian contractor, disassembling aging chemical explosive warheads and nuclear warheads from variuos types of ICBM and Nike missiles, and he told me a lot of stories about living and woking in underground launch silos.

| | | The silos/magazines usually have 3 ways in. A ventalation system, the double steel doors that open to the main stairway and the escape hatch. The one site I visited all of the main doors were welded shut but the escape hatches were padlocked shut. One of the padlocks were missing so we got in. | | | yeah, i've seen your site. that prompted me to message you on AIM, and you actually referred me to this site. thanks . i can't wait to get into some underground. i found 2 double doors i believe, and the ventilation, and as i said, all had about an inch of concrete caked on top. they're doing construction in there, and i get a sneaky feeling that the workers are trying to make less works for themselves by covering some stuff up.

| | | It's a control site. There are no "silos", just some hatches... it's a kind of boring place. The silos are a mile away and are filled with concrete.

if you go back to where the pictures you have where the buildings have been demolished, there are some kinda raised platforms, about 2 inches off the ground. i have a guy who has access to some government archives, and he looked the place up, and there is indeed an underground. maybe not silos, but bunkers and what not are on site. i've found the entrances, or atleast i'm pretty sure. on the raised platforms there is fresh concrete caked on top, but parts missed reveal hinges on opposite sides, to indicate double doors that will allow to get down.

| | | I just see the pads in the center of the property. I believe that there was a building on top of those. It would be cool if there was some underground stuff though...

| | | There are never silos at Nike sites; they all were launched above ground. Some had underground storage magazines with huge hydraulic doors/elevators. The three foot round holes with steel plates welded over them are vent wells for the magazine ventilation system. All sites are layed out differently from one another in order to prevent "cloned" attacks against multiple sites. The all have a similar appearance, the fencing, gate guard shack, the utility lines going into the base. Generally there will a command center on high ground, and a matching launch site about a mile or so away.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |
