| | | As long as its not a nuclear power plant shaking a fence and moving out shouldnt cause you issues. If these guys have serious sensors, then a fence shaker will be the least of your issues.

| | | Posted by Mark I have never heard a shake sensor like that before. It doesnt make sense to have sensor designed like that as wind could easily set it off. Also the way to get around that sensor would work. A weight would only excentuate the issue. It would cause more swing.
|
Not if the weight touched the ground and was spaced from the fence it wouldn't.

| | | Posted by FoxTwoFoxTwo Anyways, I'm reasonably certain now that it is not infact a (working) shake sensor. It looks alot like that thing Spooky dan posted but with no running cables anywhere. I'm thinking, we'll take our chances and RLH then hide to see if it is really a shake sensor. I guess I'll leave the rest of my guys outside with radios to give me a heads up if some secofs arrive.
|
Yeah, i was wondering about the wind shaking it, especially since it's mounted on the CENTER of the chain link, as far away from the poles as you could get- i can't believe i didn't think of this earlier. plus, Blink shook it some, and nothing happened. and also, a place this run-down looking, with whole abandoned sections, wouldn't have very tight security, or at least none on site, i think. i mean really- the place is operational, what Fox, three days a week? oh, and there were only two we saw, very far apart, and a gap underneath the fence about thirty feet from the closest one. thanks guys-

| | | Yeah I was pretty sure it had no connection to security since (insert what everyone has posted here) but it's always best to be safe than sorry.

Any thoughts? It is definately a shake sensor I think.

There aren't any wire feeds going to it, the chain seems to be connected to a long straight section, it's connected sloppily, and it's right next to a joint (or gate, I can't tell). My verdict is that it's a BOX. Hahaha!

| | | Chain looks like it formerly held something that is used with whatever is in the box? Maybe a pen for the log books in the box? Can the box be opened from the top?

| | | Well, the log book idea would work if it wasnt attached to one of the "easier" entrances to the area. I still think it was a shake sensor but paranoia works for me.

| | | My guess is not a sensor, the log book holder was my first thought, but.... yeah. Especially with that new pic. If you really want to know though, look at the bottom, and see how the chain is connected. This can prob be done from the outside of the fence. If the chain is anchorred to the bottom - no way a shake sensor, if it goes through a hole in the bottom - grab it and find out. pull on it and see what happens.

| | | It looks like it could be one of those old-fashioned punch-in meters that guards use to prove they're doing the rounds or something... Of course, it could just be a note box.

| | | I'm about ready to assume it's not a shake sensor- the logbook idea works, and it being on the entrance would be so ones going through the gate could log in. also, nothing happened when you jumped the fence for the two or three hours we were there.

| | | Maybe the other side opens in order to store extra locks and chains for the gate. That hanging chain looks like it has a pin that goes inside some kind of hasp (in place of how a padlock would go on) that keeps the box closed. Just my thoughts. Looks kinda old too so might be an old inactive shaker box F
Keep it fuzzy. |

| | Re: Bypassing Shake Sensors <Reply # 38 on 1/23/2006 2:54 AM >
| | | Thats a damn KEY BOX!!! They are used by guards to prove the guard has walked to that specific location at a certain time. The little thing hanging down goes into a box with a role of paper on a timer, or electric sensor. It reads, or marks the boxes time and position. THERE IS A GAURD its not a sensor.
