| | Glass House in Loudoun County < on 1/5/2006 11:20 PM >
| | | Off of Route 9 in Loudoun County (considered to be Paeonian Springs area, off Route 9 in Clarks Gap) there is a glass house. The road that leads to it has a gate in the front with a small guards booth, but isn't guarded nor is the gate closed. You go down the road and people do live here, but towards the end of the road on the right side is this glass house, it's abandoned. There are cameras on the road, all facing away from the road, and they seem to be old. This house has an outdoor swimming poor with these neat little huts that connect on the corners. It appears to have been just dropped in place and never finished. Anyone have any idea what it is from or what is going on there? It has chains on the two drive way entrys.

| | | Looks mighty interesting. It's strange how it looks as if it's been virtually untouched by vandals, etc. Really awesome find. You'll have to let me know if you can find out any more about this place...I'd like to find out more myself.

| | | Here's a webpage I made with all the pictures I took on 1/11/06. It was a rainy day. The water heater was from the 80's, the glass pepsi bottle we found was from 1996, and a few other odds and ends keep showing late 80's-early 90's for construction..but other than that the stuff inside seems to say before that somewhat. check out the pictures and see what you can figure out http://mason.gmu.edu/~sdennis1/house/house.html [last edit 1/11/2006 10:19 PM by c1rc4 - edited 2 times]

| | | This place just screams, "How'd this guy loose all his money?" I bet you a bank owns this place and the cost into the place is way over what they need to sell the place for. It's either that or he died.

| | | Yea we aren't sure who owns it but the glass stays mowed. The neighbors usually aren't around either because I keep looking for them in hopes to talk to them and see what they know. I am really in hopes to figure out what it is and if it is possible to buy this place because it's just beautiful. Either someone went bankrupt and just lost the place or they died, which are the two theorys here, but it doesn't seem like the grass would still be mowed. The other thing is I have a feeling the security system still works. I went by the power box outside and it was making noises, which is like the power works. I'm not sure much else. I really love this place though and it would be a lot of fun to fix up. The only other thing is there is no address. It's on a street, but has no house number and I searched all around the area for one. [last edit 1/12/2006 2:21 AM by c1rc4 - edited 1 times]

| | | It almost looks like it was a community center or private club house, maybe? That could maybe explain the upkeep of it. Interesting!

I need to find out who owns it because if it is for sale by a bank or something it might end up in my family for investment reasons

What I have done with properties like this is use your county tax rolls, usually available online. Just go and look at he houses addresses around it, it's pretty easy to figure out the address as the numbers will increase/decrease in a consistent manner on any given street, as an example, mine skips every other number so my house is 2004 my neighbors are 2000 and 2008. Then just use the tax rool to look up the ownership history, value and if there are any taxes due on it. in my county you can pull up maps etc ... which can help pin down the location also.

That's what I was thinking, too. Judging by those glass and steel double doors in the link provided. It look more like a business entrance that a house...

| | | It's not a county club type house. It's on a street with 2 other houses out in the middle of no where basically. Neither house even had an address on them, but I did get the street name.

I tried to use Whitepages reserve look up for any address on the street and nothing came up for Leesburg/surrounding area for the street name. I was finding a street with the same name in Newport News and another part of Virginia that isn't it. Can't really look up tax stuff without any address. Next time I'm out there I'll look around and see if I can find an address or knock on one of the doors.
