| | | I would have put this in the "Other" category, but I don't have access to it. I'm trying to build my own website, since I'm primarily a ghost town guy and that isn't UE to most folks. I'm using Yahoo page builder, but I'm going to commit suicide if I don't find something else. Who uses what, and how do you like it? Please keep in mind that I am not a really skilled computer user. Point and click is good, me writing code is bad! Thanks in advance!
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | Netscape has a decent free pagemaker in the full install. It's good for making tables and the like, and would probably be a decent place to start. Keep in mind that the code that almost every WYSIWYG editor writes is crap and requires a lot of patience if you ever want to mess with it by hand.

| | | Probably the best one to use is Macromedia Dreamweaver for inital construction. Then for quick editing I use Notepad/gVIM (Windows) and Vi under Linux.

| | | You could customize a canned website. I don't really know what's out there, though. My simple site is generated with a PERL script that I run each time I add or change content. It's rather simple. Much of the formatting is set with a style sheet. I use head and tail files for content that's the same on all pages. The top-level directory contains a simple menu file for categories, and each category has a similar menu file for galleries. Each gallery has a narrative file with text that gets inserted above the pictures, thumb and big image directories, and image_name.cap text files for captions.
