| | | I'm voting definately. I've seen the darker side of users. Some of them are just petty and annoying. Some are overly sensitive. Some are just flat out rude. Some report things that aren't happening.

Zapping is fine enough... but who zaps the zappers when the zappers themselves are behaving like 'assclowns', Jester?

That would be the sysop's perogative.

| | | I'm going to sound a lot like Freak... I think mods should be able to use the block feature like any other user. They aren't compensated for their work and are just plain old forum members like anyone else, save for the fact that they're involved in the governing of things. If a user does something bad enough that the moderator they are dealing with blocks their PMs, then I have a hard time visualizing a situation where that same user would want help from the mod again. In other words, the user probably deserved it and is getting what they brought upon themselves. They can always find some other mod to go complain to or post in foum issues.

| | | Everytime any of the mods hear " you have a new UER message " it must be like a hammer in the head, Id block you too.
Mods are members too. and they get annoyed just like everyone else AV knows mods block people, and since this is his board, I guess this WHOLE thread is MUTE POINT PART 2

Contrary to what you're thinking, Mike, Av *does* listen to things that are said in threads like these; if he sees something that makes sense, there's a good chance he'll give whatever is suggested some serious consideration.

That is your opinion, let others express theirs. Obviously Av thinks the same thing I do about people expressing their thoughts or he would have locked this when I started it.

If it's 'just' a 'friggin internet forum', Mike, then why did you post to begin with? Or why are you here at all, considering it's just an internet fourm...

Mike, chill. It's a legitimate question. And you're the only one on here that's whining at the moment.

Easy there, buddy. Don't start one of those again. This place is run by Av and the moderators. As a group, they obviously like to hear opinions and ideas by the users, but they will ultimately make the final decision. This doesn't mean polls and ideas are ignored, but rather that not every little whim is followed through like a congressional order. I have to agree with Mike that this really isn't much of an issue. Who cares if mods can block PMs or not? Is it really important enough to warrant a big poll and thread that looks like it's about to turn into another giant flamewar? How about we just move on with things. I would consider this issue done with, and it's kind of sad that we end up having to lock so many threads around here. Can everyone involved show some self control and just let it sift off into the archives without being locked and trampled by the post-deleting steamroller? Please?

Look, pal. I'm not starting anything. Please take your patronizing tone somewhere else, ok? If you took the time to read above, you'd see I said exactly what you just said:
"Av *does* listen to things that are said in threads like these; if he sees something that makes sense, there's a good chance he'll give whatever is suggested some serious consideration." |
Don't you see the irony in Mike's complaining about others complaining? Edit: closed tag. [last edit 12/16/2004 8:29 PM by el nerdo - edited 2 times]

I don't see any arguing... just discussion. But Mac, if you don't see any purpose in this thread, you're a mod: lock it.

| | | Back on topic. I think all of the mods are open people who are willing to listen if you feel they are wrong. However, if they are being harassed, DAMN RIGHT they have the right to block you. If they block you, you can come to me. If you harass me to the point where I'd have to block you from PM, I'd probably just ban you. I didn't code the block feature for myself. (or wait, did i? who knows these days...) -av
