Pathfinder ('05-'12) is top of my list, pretty much the same thing as my truck and available with a manual.

finding one that isn't beat to shit or rotted to dust is almost a mission impossible... at least here.

Yep, same as here!

And I just can't justify the 4Runner tax. Wish the XTerra has a third row!

it would have to be an Xterra with a manual transmission... they suffer the same fate that the Frontier does- rupture in the radiator fills the transmission with coolant and transmission fluid into the cooling system. other than that, they see pretty rugged.

Ditto with the Honda Pilot which is why I've sorta been avoiding them. Nice vehicles if the in-rad cooler has been bypassed, though!

There's not a single vehicle in our collection with an automatic, not even my Frontier. The last auto I had was that Rav4, and it spat its guts out on the highway in dramatic fashion.

i'm not thrilled with having an automatic, honestly.
I think i should've kept the Sonic and all the shit that the 1.4L was about to do.

Put tires on Dad's old truck on wednesday... amazingly, the truck did not break in half on the lift, the studs did not break when we took the lugnuts off and we did not have to beat the wheels off the truck with a gigantic sledgehammer... all in all, the crispy old Ford behaved itself and is now rolling on new Hankook rubber all the way around... and the tires we took off of it were shot. I mean, i don't know how they didn't just fucking explode into steel-belted confetti driving the thing around town.

the sidewalls were cracked around the rim, the rear tires the tread was starting to crack near the union with the sidewall and all four tires had cracking in the tread valleys... they had been on the pickup for over ten years. On top of that, figured out what the persistent clicking from the rotating mass was... the front wheel had so much weight on it, they were contacting the caliper every time they came around... so now, no more 'click click click' when I drive the thing.

the frame, well, that has some corrosion issues that need to be addressed with mr welder and some fishplate. we'll attend to that in the coming weeks.
