I II III IV This will be the last thread in this series until I return to Gary- after this, I'll have no more unposted Gary spots in my archives. Whereas each previous thread had a common theme for all the places in it, this one is for the places that didn't quite fit in any of the previous threads. But even if they didn't fit a general theme, that didn't make them any less cool.

This first one is an abandoned veterinary clinic that was pretty pristine, a few years ago. At the time this was one of those spots that I had to sit on for a while before posting in order to protect it. Unfortunately, the Tiktok/Youtube crowd discovered it and it's well and truly blown at this point.
All of my photos are from before it became well known, when there was still stuff left inside. One set of notable items were the jars of chemicals below, which included pentobarbital, the drug used in euthanasia. Maybe it's still there, I don't know- I haven't been back since before the spot got blown.

Next up we have the Palace Theater. I'm not even going to try to keep the name secret, because it's one of the most well-known abandoned buildings in Gary, right up there with City Meth and the Post Office. Like City Meth, I'm also not going to summarize the history since there's an
excellent Wikipedia article on this place- there's no sense in reinventing the wheel, after all.

Here's a small but cool one- a local boxing gym. It's pretty empty, but a lot of the old posters advertising upcoming fights were still on the lockers and walls, making this one a pretty cool spot even despite the missing boxing ring.
This boxing gym first started as a clubhouse for a larger African American public park and community space during the Segregation era. It later became host to the Gary Police Department Athletics League, an extracurricular training club for the Gary Police Department. Grassroots efforts by local historical preservationist groups have attempted to save it, but have been met with little success.

That's the last of my Gary pics for now. I'll resume this series whenever I go back, but until then it's time to move on to some archived photosets from other places. Until next time!
