I tried to do something different this year and save all of my exploration posts for this Year in Review roundup, instead of posting individual threads for each location, as is traditional. This turned out to be the most suitable strategy, since work and life concerns kept me from getting out nearly as much as I would have liked this year. It wasn't a complete wash, though, and there is some work here I'm pretty proud of.

This high school and mill sit across the street from each other in a historic industrial town, so I had a nice afternoon hitting up one after the other. Half of the school is still used for Vo-Tech, and there was a film crew shooting on the day I visited, so it was pretty easy to slip in after them and navigate through the basement to the disused wing.

Easily the highlight of my explorations this year actually came through my company, which is looking to purchase and renovate this former high school as affordable housing. This has meant that I have essentially unlimited access to the property, and these photos are the product of five or six different visits with my SLR and various film cameras. It's been a real treat to be able to capture all of the many interesting details of this place at my own leisure, and to get paid to do so!

A trip to New Mexico for a second year in a row offered up many opportunities for quick hits, and yielded some great scenes.

I'm hopeful that I'll get more opportunities to get out and focus more on the abandoned world in the New Year, and have more to show all of you!
