This Madison spot everyone has probably seen many time, but now that it's developed I thought I'd post a few pics I took a while back when I lived there. It's kinda sad because I used to hang at that spot all the time when I lived there, and exploring the inside was always a challenge with the crumbling wall and rotting roof. My friends and I used to play jenga with the loose bricks outside.

I included a few photos of the "writer hangout spot" with a bunch of 90s/00s pieces in a lil harder to access area of the building. There were plastic chairs, beer cans, and pizza boxes in that room. Seemed like it was a cool spot back in the day.

I also included a couple newer photos from the Garver website, for comparisons sake.

Looks like the renovation turned out well. It's always nice to see buildings preserved, even if it's just turned into a restaurant.

Nice post and great memories. Thanks for sharing the perspective on the spot. If you didn’t see it, you should check out Aran’s post from not too long ago. He did a great job merging some before and after photos of the place.

There was a hangout spot? Where was it? I explored it in the fall of 2016 and must have somehow missed it. I know there was a small firepit filled with beer cans behind the building in a section enclosed on three sides by exterior walls though, so it likely was a hangout spot for local kids or homeless people.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

Yeah Aran it was above the East end of the building by the garage doors & encompassed that whole front brick corner. Not accessible from the inside. I had to climb up from the outside using the boards over the windows and use a sketchy rope that was there to pull myself up.
