Gotta give you props for this one. Major respect. Doesn't matter if you're someone I don't like, if you do some dope shit, you do some dope shit. It took a lot of balls and skill to pull this off. It was also cool that you took control of the crane. I've done some crazy shit, but not as crazy as that. Looks like I'll have to step up my game.
Take nothing but Nazi VHS tapes, leave nothing but footprints, drink nothing but Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends.

I think I waited about three years to make it public on Vimeo, and I re-edited it a few times before that.
I went up there twice, the first attempt I didn't rappel down before trying to lasso the lightning rod on the other building. I tried about 100 times before giving up and leaving. We came back a week later and tried again. My friend was supposed to also traverse over but we had both worked a 6 hour shift hanging drywall then drove two hours then spent another four hours or so building a treehouse at his place. He took some long exposures while I was slowly turning the crane. I sped it up in the video for pacing, the onsite guard could see the crane from his post so I wanted it to look like normal wind shift, so I went really slow. When I was ready to set up the rope he ended up taking a nap in the cab of the crane. He woke up to see me ascending back up the rope. The main thing I was thinking about while on the rope was how fucking lit up I was from the lights on the building and I was worried people on the balconies of Marina City could see me. Also, I edited out the nearly 40 failed attempts to get a rope on that lightning rod after rappelling down level with it. I had to throw, wind it back up while kicking one leg to spin back around to the correct orientation. Having an awake belay buddy to control slack on a second rope would both prevent having to do that and be way safer.
