| | | Visited the dangerous Silo where the poor girl passed away a couple years ago. It is very dangerous in that place due to the man holes shaped in a square where a human can easily fit through to a plummet of 10 stories high. The smell of bat shit and melted tar from the roof isn't no joke either its kind of makes feel light headed. No to mention the ladders that dont have no safety rails and no harness. The only things you rely on is your arms and legs, no space for mistakes because one careless mistake could be your last here. There was a shit ton of vultures too, maybe things constantly die up there that's why vultures fly and peep inside. | | | Cool Trust nothing... including what appears to be solid concrete. Any fasteners going into concrete for ladders, catwalks, pipes, etc are suspect. They can break with the slightest stress sometimes... with no warning. Multiple anchor cascading failures are not uncommon either. The extent of the corrosion can be hard to spot. It's happened to me and others here.

Actually, I’m pretty sure I posted that news article on UER when it happened come to think of it. I’ll see if I can find it. I love these silos though. Great views and it’s massive (but also extremely dangerous, probably one of the more hazardous explores in the DFW area due to the hell holes literally everywhere, sketchy ladders, crumbling concrete, etc.). I’ve been here at least half a dozen times but I never get used to that climb to the top. Climbing that freaky ladder while wearing a backpack full of gear and a tripod is always an interesting challenge, lol. I’ve gotten lots of photos of the vultures too. They have a nest up there at the top towards the center of the structure. I was able to take some pretty cool shots of three of them fighting over territory(?) last time I was there. Fun fact: I don’t know if this holds true currently, but at one time this was the tallest abandonment in DFW. -DA EDIT: I found the thread about the girl: I was misinformed and thank you for the thread, poor girl may she rest in peace. http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0
