| | | Posted by Steed I like these sentences a lot. One of the rules I made basically says the same thing but less eloquently.
| Thank you. Destroying an object's link to history is a big deal. It degrades the meaning of the object and the site from where it was removed. Posted by Cfourexplore
I know this is off topic, but is that your Tegu? Great pic!
| Mine was bigger, he been about 2 feet long if he had his whole tail. He was a killer. No images of him. That though is what they do. Posted by Steed In Korea, if you're caught in any abandoned place with something in your bag from the location, you're getting a criminal record. In recent years I've found police are more attentive to catching me and searching my bag. I've worked with some and feuded with others over UE ethics. Urban exploration is not a well-understood concept in this country, but when it becomes a thing, I don't want the whole country thinking we're scavengers or vandals. That's a big deal that is likely to affect my future livelihood and ability to stay in this country, maybe even to stay out of jail. Reputation is paramount for all urban explorers, and one asshole who ruins it is putting at risk a lot of other people.
| Spot on. Many times the moment you take or break something, trespassing becomes a crime. I don't want to have to explain some numb skull theft to all my future employers. Or have a LEO pull it up when they run me! In the last 8 years my CDL has been run over a dozen times by LEOs. Having a clean criminal record saved me from a lot of bs, and from being further investigated, arrested or run out of town.

| Call it historical preservation, a "moral circle jerk", whatever you want. A thief is a thief is a thief. If your weak moral compass can't wrap its tiny pea brain around that, than anyone and everyone in this thread consider this - This is a PUBLIC thread on a PUBLIC forum. If anyone wants to steal some garbage, whatever - knock yourself out - but you make us ALL look bad. It is why we are classified with vandals, graffiti "artists", scrappers, burnouts, and thieves. If you genuinely lack morals and insist on preserving that sign, name plaque, or mold-ridden Alf pog, then keep it to your effing selves already. We are here to explore and share said exploring, not discuss when it is and isn't ok to STEAL something. Fucking hell.

| Liked not locked! I want one of these joker geniuses to report back here next time they get caught lifting stuff from a site and advise us on how the cops and the county attorney react to their "preservation" vs theft story, Im betting a cold one right now that it just wont fly. Plus as its been said before, they ruin it for the next guys so if Im a local and find out some shit birds are stealing from some local sites I will offer two choices: A. I call The Man let them sort it out (not a moral dichotomy I know Im guilty of trespassing) B. They return the stolen souvenirs or get an ass-whoopin on the spot, I'll be long gone before they come to
