It didn't occur to me to cross-post this at the time I made the post, but better late than never?

Part B: Mines (still) on the Mind
For a couple of years now, I've been trying to focus on documenting abandoned mines in Northern Ontario. Compared to about 10 years ago, it's become harder and harder to find these places - a lot of mines have been reactivated, and many of the old headframes have fallen over or been demolished. Even once the mine itself has been capped and shut down, the tailings often remain, leaving behind land that is too toxic for anything to grow in, and contaminating the ground water and local lakes/rivers.
