Universal Atlas Cement; Penn Hills PA
This property is quite large. The property had water filled holes EVERYWHERE! There must have been tunnels connecting different locations. Perhaps they had conveyors in them carrying crushed rock to the concrete plant at the silos. I did not have time to explore it all as 3hrs in jeans and 94 degree heat was just beating the ess out of me. A fellow explorer I came across said the buildings (not the silos) belonged to a glass company. I have not looked into whether or not that is fact. WAY too many pics to post - I can build a 2nd thread on this location if you guys would like!

3. I love this pic. The next room over was getting much more sunlight, and the hole knocked in the wall revealing the brightly lit room is shaped like my home state of Wisconsin!

7. This beautiful building had been burned at some point, and it was actively being demolished. No access to the front steps because of that trench, and the whole back half had been reduced to rubble. The basement windows in the pic I did NOT notice when I was there. I sure wish I did....

14. Entire ground floor was flooded. Not terribly, but I was not properly outfitted for wet feet. I wasn't about to hike back to the Jeep in wet shoes. I had LOTS of explores planned for the remainder of this trip, and I had to protect my feet!
15. Spiral staircase to the top. I didn't count, but I think 12 stories is a fair estimate. It begins to go dark before the halfway point, then gets light at the halfway point hole in the wall.
16. View from about halfway up. The stairs between here and the top were pitch black. I was so excited to explore this, I left my flashlight in the Jeep. Phone battery was down to 5%, and I prioritized pics over a flashlight app. It was creepy. Plus, years and years of concrete dust accumulated onto the steel stair treads. It made each step feel like I was climbing a cobblestone wall. Each was shaped different, some big, some small. I put the phone away, held onto the railing and felt each step before I put weight on it. Despite that, and the whole staircase having a slight sway, it was very sturdy. The concrete must have helped save the steel from rust....
17. View from the top!
18. I wish I could... First off, it is about a 12hr drive from home. 2nd, with the one building being demolished, I wonder if the whole site is on the heels of a new development.
