This almost exact thing happened to me (on a facebook group too) and I got a lot more than a ticket for it. I'm still on probation and still paying several thousands of dollars off to a lawyer and the state of Texas for my trespass. It sucks.

Facebook can be a dangerous place.
You can lock your account down all you want, but when you post about illegal stuff in Facebook groups, you're sort of asking for trouble. Even with a "closed" group the names of all the members are still publicly visible and searchable.
So all the MOS have to do is search the names of people with prior UE related arrests in Facebook UE groups and then request membership to get incriminating evidence. It's really up to the group administrators to vet new members and I doubt any of them do much vetting at all.
You have a little security with a "secret" Facebook group, but even that's NFG if the administrators start adding people to the group that haven't been fully vetted in real-life.

We knew what we were doing back in the day with UER. Pseudonyms, the "full member" wall, blurring faces--we nailed it. What we built isn't foolproof, but it's a lot better than posting photos to social media.
