I know I am a bit behind the times, but hey better late than never! Instead of doing a year in review I decided to just post my favorite 16 shots from last year. Hell at this rate if a posted a 50 photo YIR I probably wouldn't get it done until July. I ended up exploring 47 spots last year. Some good, some not so good. I will include links to the full sets when applicable or you can click any of the pictures to head to my Flikr if you are interested to see more.
One of my first explores of the year was to the remains of what was once one of the largest steel mills in the world. Only a handful of building remain and they are quite spread apart. We walked about 6 miles that day and did not see every building.

Most were for the loading and unloading of baggage and goods. I did like the post apocalyptic feel of this shot however.

http://www.uer.ca/...&threadid=122377 The next two are from a long abandoned school completely overrun by nature. This is one of the first abandoned places I ever laid eyes on as a kid and I never did get it out of my mind. One of my favorite explores of the year.

http://www.uer.ca/...1&threadid=124003 These two are from the same day of exploring. After getting politely escorted off the property of a beautiful abandoned prison by two guards from the active prison directly behind it we settled on some visiting some mills.
This is about as close as we got to getting inside:
My exploring partner doing what she does best. Inside a 100+ year old mill on a small island in a river:
My 8th visit to the first place I ever explored. This will forever be one of my very favorite spots. The view from this "lookout tower" is spectacular and is my favorite spot in the whole complex.
The next two are from a resort in the middle of nowhere we spent several hours at during out traditional labor day weekend exploring adventurers. The shear amount of different things to see here and it's rural setting made this probably my favorite spot of the year.

http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=124200 The next three shots are from a location very close to my house. Despite knowing about it for years I never went until early fall. Although mostly gutted, the things that remain are quite remarkable.

The last pair are from a untouched church. It's pretty rare to get into a place before any vandals, scrapper or taggers touch it. I should have a full set up from this special place very soon.
Finally a off topic bonus shot. We found this pond while out driving back roads on a beautiful autumn day, looking for abandoned houses, trying to get lost and just enjoying the fall foliage
Thanks for making it all the way through and hope you enjoyed! I have already been to a few killer spots so far this year, so hopefully that's a good sign!
Would love to explore with some of you this year, so if you are ever in the Buffalo area feel free to drop me a line!
