...through news of it being demolished. Uuuuughhh I'm so mad I missed out on this place- if only I'd found it barely a month sooner. :/It was huge.

Has this ever happened to any of you guys? Please tell me I'm not alone in the frustration, haha.

I can definitely relate there. I lost count of how many I found out about, that were either shortly after that demolished, or being prepped for demo.

If I travel out of town to explore I always keep a list of other things to explore that are nearby. There is nothing worse than getting to location to find it is gone, active, trashed, or no way to get in. I didn’t really explore much from about 2011 to 2014, And I have since discovered that some really good places have been demolished during that time that I didn’t get to see. I say all this to say, the best time to explore is now.

Yep. A very nearby movie theatre sat abandoned for a decade, only to be demolished a week after I found out about it.

There was a small power plant along an isolated stretch of the river not far from me, that had sat abandoned for some time and looked REALLY decrepit when I drove by it one day when I didn't have an opportunity to stop... because it was midway through being knocked over. It was just Sunday at the time and the crew wasn't working. Rats

Oof, that sucks! It's a shame that these places only ever seem to be news-worthy to most people when they're tearing them down...

Mulled it over and I'm thinking about possibly heading down that way anyways and seeing if maybe they haven't gotten the entire building yet. I have no idea how long it usually takes for a building demo to happen, but eh. Hope springs eternal. (Plus there's apparently a new building going up across the street...)

I pretty much just call this normal. When it takes years to find an explorer and get to a place, demolition is imminent literally everywhere...

I actually had this work in my favor once - I was planning an explore down in TN to an old mental hospital that looked excellent from my research. By the time I got down there, it had been demolished and turned into a park!

But I went to a secondary location (an abandoned college campus) that turned out to be an amazing explore - probably my most interesting location to date.

You've got time... demo explores can still be fun, they just made entry easier for you.

That happens all the time. Or when I get around to checking it out and it has been completely gutted out.

I traveled down to check the place out yesterday feeling somewhat hopeful, but alas- the building is now a giant pile of rubble. Was hoping the new hotel they were building would be worth checking out, but it was just a small, flimsy wooden thing, and crawling with construction workers to boot.

Ended up finding a ton of fun elsewhere in town, though, so I guess it wasn't a complete bust in the end.
