This was one of the definite highlights of my most recent trip over the water.

The majority of the huge campus of this former state school was vacated only a short time ago, and it was long thought to be impossible by the locals owing to the one very big active hospital building on site, and regular security patrols keeping things very well secured (and as my friend Essex was to find out recently, police training on site!).

It's a comparatively modern facility from around the 1960s, so architecturally it is plop but there are a number of very good aspects to this place - namely the rec building which contains a swimming pool, bowling alley, a weird hybrid sports hall/theatre/chapel combo and the sheer number of padded cells and padded rooms dotted around the buildings. We only ended up getting into two buildings on the whole massive campus, but the majority of the ward/school buildings are mirror images of each other so despite there being securely locked interlinking corridors between them I don't reckon we missed too much in those.

Oh yeah, a lot of the place still has power being fed to it too which makes it feel even stranger. So while there isn't much in the way of decay - yet - it was a pretty unique explore.

Big and wide open.

#27, sure the room is padded and looks secure... until nutzillica climbs up the padding to the unsecured dropped down ceiling.

Lol, I have to try that just to see.

Beautiful set bro but too clean for my personal sickening pleasure.

Was wondering when you were gonna post these!! I still can't believe it took me so long to hit this place up, considering it's about 5 minutes from my house!

Great shots here dude! Hopefully I can find access to the tunnels soon so I can gain access to more of the buildings. Honestly though the "activities building" we were in is probably the best of the bunch.

(and as my friend Essex was to find out recently, police training on site!).

Sure did. Nothing like rolling up to a place 7 hours away from home and the damn police are sitting right out front. I did take a walk around a few other buildings and they were definitely well secured. When the second officer drove by I figured it was time to split.

Great set though as always dude.

I'll be honest and say places like this are usually too clean for me as well so I struggle to take many photos inside, however this one did have quite a few very nice features to focus on amid the mostly completely stripped rooms.

I do wonder if there are indeed tunnels on that campus at all, or whether it's a bit too modern to have 'proper' tunnels like the older sites do. I would have thought we'd have found them in that massive basement area but who knows.

My theory on the tunnels:

The big building we were in, I've been referring to it as "The Activities Building" likely had it's own heat source, those looked to be furnaces in the basement, and therefore did not need to have tunnels going to it.

The basement in the other building we got in was very small, obviously there must be more to that basement we could not access.

No remember that locked door in that same building? That leads to a hallway which leads to the other half of that building. On that side there is a large garage door/loading bay. My guess would be that the basement in that section is where the tunnels come out. They would want to keep the tunnels as far away from patients as possible.

This is only a theory of course. Hopefully I will one day find out for sure.
