Posted by Aran Thanks to everyone who replied. I wish I could visit other cities, but my only means of transportation are the public bus system and my bicycle, and Milwaukee's a bit of a far ride. As such, my range is rather limited. As for the cranes and tunnels, both are places I've been keeping an eye on. What about the storm drain system? Is that safe? I've seen raccoons climbing in and out of the grates, so getting stuck in a small space with a territorial animal is a concern.

Hi and welcome!
There are a few doable drains in Madison but nothing spectacular. They're safe as far as I know as long as it isn't raining of course and if you can actually catch up with a raccoon in one I'll be pretty surprised.
Madison also doesn't have much in the way of abandonments but there are a couple. Access is spotty at best.
Really there are two things Madison has going for it. Lots of cranes (though never very tall) and sexy explorers. Get in good with the locals and you'll have a chance to carpool to a lot of fun places and events.
