Couldn't find a non-archived thread, so here's a new thread. These are some grain storage silos next to the water for transporting and storing grain. They were pretty low-key to get into, but there was a security guard who would periodically drive around in an unmarked car, but not get out. Our timing was good, so we were inside by the time he drove by. We really tried to get to the top, but of the three staircases, the first floors were totally destroyed. We saw some possibilities for getting up the staircases, but all of them would have been super sketch. Anybody done this recently?

03: A drain for a silo. The last grain silos I went into were in Northen California and they had machinery and conveyor belts connecting to the silo drains. It was cool to be able to see up inside of it.

06: I have a hard enough time sneaking into places while dodging security, but somehow people were able to sneak in shopping carts - at least three different times before sinking them all here:


07: Hard to see, but the vertical metal beam in this photo is actually the old stairs, which collapsed and are hanging by a bent rusty bit of metal. They were completely vertical and maybe could be used as a ladder, but I was too sketched out to try it:

The surfaces inside look relatively untouched, surprised there isn't more graffiti. Never seen a grain silo anywhere, looks like an interesting spot.

It's heavily patrolled and supposedly owned by the Mafia.

That being said, it is possible to get legit access and a lot of low-budget movie people use it for a filming location.

Top floor is where its at. There is a staircase that leads to the top.

Very nice, I really like the mess of catwalks and ladders in 9.

Stairs weren't so bad last time I was there. Which is to say yeah, they're sketchy, but not much more than what you'd find in other other abandoned building. Then again, I'm not very heavy. Always hold the handrail.

I was there in '09. The stairs were gone, but we did some climbing and made it to the top. No security back then, so the tide was our major deterrent. My only UEDB entry is of this place.

I've heard the owner allows photography tours (or at least allows one individual to do workshops there), but it's quite pricey.
