Has anyone ever heard of this town or thought of visiting ?? I just discovered it, and thought it would be amazing to some day make a trip out there. It would be a bit of a drive from Vancouver (google map says 18 hours), but I think it would be worth it !!

Beautifully preserved. It's gated off quite a ways up the access road and has a super heavy caretaker presence but if you ask nicely they may take you on a guided tour.

Also there's a lot of black bears in that area, and blackies are dumb shitheads so keep your head on a swivel.

Yeah I know about the caretaker, I was considering asking politely for permission for a tour/to take photos....

Thank you! Do you know if there is still a lot of snow on the ground in the area in April? I ask because I would like to do a week or so long canoe trip up there. I would go in the summer but I've already got a big adventure in South America planned and I've already been putting that off.

The place looks very interesting, if my friend and I can ever get the time off work work we plan to take our motorcycles up there and check it out.

How is this even 'exploration'? It's a loving house you've already been in you weirdo!

They usually do tours. You just need to call ahead usually. I used to have the numbers, but switched phones and lost them in the process. If you have Facebook, you can go onto Kitsault Remembered. They can get you in touch with the right people.

Weren't there plans to repurpose Kitsault, or one of the towns near it?

Kitsault is much better preserved than Uranium City, but I'd still like to visit either, if I ever have the chance.

One day I got a good camera.

It was purchased by some guy who was going to revitalize it and turn it into an artsy community, but it just never panned out.
