I was looking for a location to really kickstart my explores of 2016 after a couple of smaller sites earlier this month and this one managed to tick all the boxes.
For many years this place was one of the 'go to' asylums which, since part closure in 2001, has gradually got more and more ruined. Eventually so much so that people wrote it off as not worth the time as the closed parts were absolutely destroyed. However over the last few years more and more parts of the original asylum have been closing on the quiet which leaves a very strange mix of absolutely ruined buildings and totally mint untouched buildings which still have running water fed to them. In 2009 the western half of the hospital site was demolished to make way for a new hospital building, which is a shame as it is the half which contained both the hydrotherapy swimming pool and a pair of padded cells.
We also managed to run into the most apathetic security guard ever who just kind of grunted at us and wandered off, very strange.

Awesome shots as always man. You are the UK's Urbex God! Huge fan of your work. As far as the security guard goes, were you wanting him to yell and scream at you and threaten to call the cops?

thats some Delicious Decay! # 22,23 and 24 trills me to the bone. That IS an interesting Mock Up of the hospital. Couldn't help but laugh at your word about the guard who grunted and walked off. Thats the kind we all need...

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time. Z.B.S. Halevi -- Kabbalah

Cheers guys and girls, I'm glad you like the place as much as I enjoyed shooting in it - I can see myself returning more than once given the chance, if only to crack the hall, laundry and main admin block which is right opposite where security are situated on site.
The guard was funny, he must have been about 70 years old and was wandering up and down the middle of the site with a walking stick. He must have seen us criss-crossing the place about five times but didn't do anything even when we were only a few metres away from him walking down one of the roads. Mind you even at a normal walking pace we would probably have been able to get away from him had he decided to pursue us!

Rocking set you got there, the mix of fog and natural light certainly make for a fun explore. The dollhouse on the other hand reminded me of a few horror movies, makes me think of "The Awakening"
