A few years ago I was just chillin at the lake of the Ozarks. While swimming off the boat I noticed a water tower atop a hill on land. I asked my grandpa why it was up there and he said it was an abandoned prison. The prison was a low security facility that housed prisoners with only a few months left in their sentence. The prisoners staying there maintained the surrounding state park. After hearing the story I knew I had to go see it. The next day I set out in a kayak. When I arrived at the prison I had to walk up a decent hill, but it was all worth it when I reached the top. What looked more like a boyscout camp than a prison lay abandoned. I spent all day exploring and loved every minute of it. Since the initial visit I have returned twice with soap_is_dope. soap_is_dope and I took pictures the second time, and soap_is_dope even climbed the water tower, not me I am deathly afraid of hights. The prison is a must see for anyone in the area.
