Wheel of Life. HDRed to achieve that high dynamic range, this image is taken from the inside of a silo. You can see the rings of moss growing where the light penetrates.
Abandon Window. Sunset at the complex. My guide holds a hatchet and a record he found in the remains of the roof. His brother sits on van seating with an inflatable Chiquita banana.
Recession. The failed barbeque business that seemed to have some connection to the complex leaves its mark in this corner of the stable. Tens of thousands of menus were left to rot, each offering the same shrimp popper special.
Bathroom Reading. The housing area to the complex had a framed portrait of a child and horse, which laid in the sink for us when we arrived.
The One Left Open. A panorama of the interior of one of the silos. Bird droppings, trash, and dirt had formed a hefty layer that remained pretty bouncy.
Inquiry. A Bokeh panorama of the farmhouse's basement entrance as my friend prepares to make her descent. Thirty pictures stitched together has a lot of problems with it, you can tell Photoshop's not perfect in a lot of little places.
Witchhouse. I love the colors sooo much in this.
Album of the Century. Another failed panorama since the colors dramatically changed between pictures, but still good. The inflatable Chiquita banana was tucked into my guide's brother's shirt as he crawled up to him on a smaller silo. That's what the image is showing, not some weird arm.
Sideroom. No idea what this area was used for. All I care about all the colors and textures. Mhmmm.
What Happened On the Tracks That Night. Always bring extra gloves. People don't like picking up deer heads without them. Funny story, these heads were mounted on the garage door but fell and the wood decayed faster than the hide.
A Bad Image. Sometimes it's good just to include a basic wide shot to show what the scene we were dealing with looked like. Here was a corner of the stable.
Oh, a Toilet. My comrade wanders into the room I'm in. Flash is heavily discouraged in UE photography, but I dunno. I think it has its benefits in this twilight we were in. Did a great job with the lighting, colors, freezing motion. Guess brightness is a problem, but if you can afford it in a site you visit a lot, try some flash stuff.
Clear. My guide inspects the construction of the windows in the farmhouse near the complex. His relative had told me so many farmhouses remain abandoned around our area because widows of farmers had no idea how to manage a farmhouse, had no use living next to a farm, and were convinced to not demolish the house since it would change the property taxes of those surrounding her. She fled into cities, leaving these.
Opportunity. Exploring a site is like cracking a Fabergé egg. Something people might find weird, unrealistic, or dumb, but you know there's an amazing wealth of art and beauty and love on the interior of those walls.
