COLUMBUS, Ohio - An investigation is underway into the death of a man who fell several floors to his death Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at the vacant Ohio Light Plant on the 500 block of West Nationwide Boulevard.
Police tell 10TV two adults and a teenage girl used a conveyer belt to gain entry into the abandoned building that is filled with live wires and old equipment.
Police say they received a call around 1:00 a.m. from 17-year-old Abigail Faught, who explained that her brother - 20-year-old Frank Faught - was in an accident in the building that they had illegally gained entry into. Police tell 10TV Frank was trying to climb platform-to-platform near a stairwell when he lost his grip and fell several floors.
By time police and medics arrived, the man had died. They say he may have been electrocuted before falling.
The coroner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death, which police are treating as an accident.
Abigail Faught and another man who entered the building have been charged with criminal trespassing.
