I only take photos using vintage Polaroid film in a vintage Polaroid instagram camera.

I wear only hand made leather vibram toe shoes with the labels marked through.

I wear a suit and tie because fuck the establishment.

Bug spray can't forget that especially as it can double as mace to scare off bad guys. That and duct tape good to hand that to security to keep you from getting away.

I also stash away some cash just in case I need to barter for my life or bribe someone for an assortment of reasons. I usually keep like 20 bucks on my person at least (but only cash in 5 or ten increments). You'd be surprised how much that money has been very helpful to me on explores. Five bucks has gotten me a few tours and/or POE's I'd have otherwise missed, as well as invaluable suggestions from local homeless residents, etc.
*Beer works great too, but it's a lot bulkier.

This sounds like something a hipster in Portland would say.

I don't really understand why everything they suggest is waterproof but the shoes. I've always worn leather hiking boots and they've served me very well. I also like how they say 'old jeans' but a $300 jacket. Interesting article.

In terms of the items they suggest generically (light source, camera, decent shoes and gloves, etc), it's actually not a bad list if someone wants to be prepared.

In terms of what they specifically suggest... yeah...

I like to bring duct tape, to put on a door, like the latch. It would be scary to get stuck inside and it would be even worse to have to call the cops

I'm not sure this "gear guide" is the greatest, but hey. To each his own.

My policy is to carry as little as possible, which can be hard considering I always want to tote around my DSLR.

But apparently, I've been doing it wrong? ;)
