These are probably well familiar to residents or former residents of Southcentral Alaska, positioned as they are on the side of the, gee, one highway out of town to the southern set of road-accessible communities. This bog sank significantly during the earthquake in '64, and the remains of this homestead have been decaying there ever since. A couple of years ago, I took a few roadside snapshots with AKPhill during a winter visit, but I had an afternoon to myself so I went down to have a closer look and was pleasantly surprised by the solidity of the ground (sometimes it's much wetter).
