A Dead Mall, Completely Gutted < on 5/4/2014 3:05 AM > | Reply with Quote
Hey all
I'm a new user here. Just recently got into urban exploration, and the bug has really taken hold of me. I figured the best way to introduce myself would be to provide you all with some shots of my most recent excursion.
The outside of the mall was barren, with unkempt flowerbeds, uncontrolled ivy growing over every available surface, and detritus tossed about in huge piles from when the mall's interior walls were gutted.
Inside the parking garage.
Parts of the mall's interior were lit by light coming from the skylights, and parts were pitch black.
Thanks for checking out my post. Hope you enjoyed it.

Was here about a year back and got chased out by a security guard living in a motorhome in the parking structure. Nice to see someone got back in there since then. Looks like a lot of fun.

Welcome to the forum!
Was it gutted back then? I heard the interior walls were removed very recently.

It was pretty empty, but had a little more stuff in it than what your photos currently show. It looks like they are going to renovate it now.
From what I've read, the owners are still fighting with the city over what exactly they want to do with it. This stalemate is what's preventing further development of the site, but they were pretty sure it wouldn't ever be a mall again so they stripped everything out.
As for the future of the site, I've heard rumours of everything from sublet office space to industrial apartments/condominiums.
Yet still it stands. Good thing too. It's a fine place to pass an afternoon with a friend and some beers.
