This is a World War I built fort on Bolivar Peninsula. This was built in conjunction with Fort San Jacinto, on the East end of Galveston island. Together they protected the Galveston channel, the entrance to the Houston Ship channel. They helped protect commerce and trade during two world wars and now lay in complete ruin, unappreciated for the history they hold, with picnic areas all around. Now they don't hold much meaning, more than a place for people to walk around and poke into when they are busy having family days at the park that surrounds them.

Very nice photos, Astro! Great composition and vibrant colors throughout. The first one kicks so much ass, it's painful. My only complaint is that there's only five of them and no selfies.
