make exploring great again
| | Saturday School < on 11/13/2013 4:46 AM >
| | | Had a pretty adventuresome weekend with UrbexKeith and a few locals. Sorry for the long post. First up was a stunning theater at a historically black high school opened in 1942 that closed after hurricane Katrina in 2005. Then we headed to another school, this time a parochial school opened in 1925 and closed in 1978. We visited an old Police station in operation from 1903 until 1951 when it was turned into a community center and library. We concluded the weekend with a medical office building, also closed post-katrina, and a power substation that opened in 1909 and closed at a yet undetermined time. Bonus photos: an old tunnel we found and an open grave in a cemetery behind the substation. High School Theater:

| | | Holy action packed weekend! Looks like you guys had a blast. All great pics but I like the crack-ly locker and the green doorknob thanks for sharing.
The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us? |

| | | Very interesting post and pictures. I like when people include some historicals along with the current shots. Nice job.

| | | Every photo from the substation = awesome. As a history buff, I would have shit my pants if I saw a "colored" bathroom.

We all rounded the corner and gasped in turn. It was one of those moments where you stop and think "where am I and how old is this place?"
