So I am going to replace a stereo deck in a 1998 Buick Regal GS for a friend so she can have a auxillary input jack.

Looking at some literature, other forums and even videos, I see removing the dash itself only takes like 10 minutes tops similar to doing a 2004 Impala but any of you GM experts have any tips or anything to watch out for on this?

BTW the reason she asked me was she went to a car dealer, CarToys, who convinced her that even installing a new stereo in her car requires them to spend like 2 hours removing the dash and cost her 300.00 in installation alone. WTF?

its a hard call, just looked up pics, could be like the cavalier dash where you have to take the whole bloody dash pad off to get the bezel off. I was able to swap the radio in the sunfire in 20 minutes, the cavalier took 2 hours. But other than that doesnt look too exotic, unlike the 89 and later sunbirds and late 80s early 90s c series trucks with the 2 piece radios...

Same, I know I've had one apart but I've had so many GM dashboards apart, and they seem to make each one entirely different.

The whole dash piece has to come off, like heater controls / piece around the cluster. Really not bad I think there's only a few screws and you will have to remove some electrical connectors. If its what I'm thinking it's really quite easy and the whole piece once you remove the screws ki

Here is the final product!

It was pretty easy...the only hard part was assembling the aftermarket bezel kit as it was universal for several makes and we kept forgetting to break plastic tabs for the cars that isn't hers. I still don't understand how that remotely is 300 dollars lol
