| | Montgomery Mystery < on 6/16/2013 6:56 AM >
| | | I thought I had a fairly vague idea of what this place was as we headed out west again to explore. Once we got on site everything was so obliterated and overgrown however that it was less and less clear. A large rail yard with the remains of a roundhouse? Kind of looked so from the maps. The remains of a demolished furnace? The more I search for the history the less clear things become and am left with only more questions. However history search did turn up an enormous wealth of neat information on the history iron and blast furnaces of Alabama. I had no idea. Alabama, you do impress. I hate not knowing even a little of what a location originally was. But I hate even worse getting spotted while getting onto a location. Dude in his truck slowed down and warned us about snakes out there in the bushes, OK yeah thanks. He should have been warning us about the poison ivy. You can fairly assume that anything green you see in these pics is poison ivy, its covered. In hindsight I probably should have just asked dude in truck what this place was, he probably would have known everything about it and had an uncle that worked there.

| | | Holy damn, those are some beautiful shots of a beautiful spot! Well done! I don't even care what it was if that's what it looks like now! EDIT- I found it on a map- definitely a railyard. The long buildings were for maintenance and the strange concrete tower was probably a coaling tower for refueling steam locomotives! [last edit 6/16/2013 8:37 AM by Quarantine - edited 1 times]

It was a cool spot. There are actually two locations in the pics. 17-20 are from some warehouse not too far from the rail yard. The area below the concrete tower was covered with coal and pig iron.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

| | | Cool, nice rhythms in #3 and the rock looks like it has a small choir boy towards the lower right

Now right, see that's what I was originally thinking and it looks like the foundations of a rail roundhouse on the east side of the property. But once on site its so hard to tell.

Good eye Auto, but in actuality it was a tiny cherub that was captured and encased in pure molten evil when a third of the heavenly host fell from grace and was cast from heaven. I think I have may have just located the Hellsmouth, and its in Alabama, go figure.
Anyway, that's a good a guess as any, I still find no location history.

I'm going with rail yard, the street names for furnaces I've found just don't check out.

I've looked, too. I haven't found anything that matches either.
