| | | | Friend's having troubles with a 3.1 v6 < on 5/10/2013 3:12 AM > | Reply with Quote
| | | So my buddy has a 90 Lumina with the 3.1 v6, it was running rough and idling rough, and he asked me to help since he doesn't know how to work on cars. I started by replacing the plugs and wires. Fun job. Helped a bit, but not much. Step 2 was removing and thoroughly cleaning the I.A.C. valve. Helped a bit more. Then I replaced the oxygen sensor on the downpipe. He said that was the best the car's ever ran, until it warmed up, then it ran rough again and bogged down under acceleration. It idled fine in park, but once you drop the shifter into D (even with your foot still on the brake) it bogs down and runs rough. He's been researching his issues and said the only thing he can find that's related to when the car warms up is the IAC valve, so he bought a new one and I replaced that tonight. Didn't help at all. More to the point, now it's not starting if you try to start it when it's still warmed up. rather than keep throwing $30 sensors at it, I figured I'd pick your brains first. His next move as he told me is to clean or replace the EGR valve. Thoughts?
| Won't you help me, Mr. Jesus, Won't you tell me, if you can When you see this world we live in, Do you still believe in man? |
