Family owned business since the late 1800's. The patriarch closed the doors and walked away a number of years ago. Yes, those are really cremains left behind. Along with drawers of personal items like watches, glasses and jewelry removed from the bodies and never returned to the families.

That leg, it will haunt my dreams.

How the hell can you get away with cremating someone and then not giving the family the ashes?

Thanks, wish people around here liked this kind of location too. I would do a lot more, I think, if I weren't solo most of the time.

I understand that, I do not have anyone in my area to explore with either. I would certainly get out more if I did.

Wonderful set of photos from a type of location I do enjoy visiting when I can find them. There is something very personal about these buildings, even when devoid of anything really inside them. The pictures are gorgeous, and I personally think that the bigger you make #1, the better and better it looks. The large version on your flickr just makes it easier to enjoy the accents of the colours and the shine of the metal. Job well done
