Civil War Fortification

This location is rich with stories of battles, artillery, moats and a history dating back as far as the 1600’s. It was used through WWII. Near a Boy Scout’s cabin, there are brick etchings that may have been done by soldiers during the civil war. The site was officially decommissioned in 2011.

Anyone wanting to check out this place should watch out for white Ford Rangers; there is security constantly patrolling.

You were right it's deff the scouts logo. Just found more info on it, unfortunately there are no longer meetings held there it looks like, they are held at the chapel on the site. Possibly with a phone call or two we could gain access to the old scout hut.

Been there, but it was about 20 years ago. Worth going back, need to look into it.

Or a kayak at night...

Was out there about 4 years ago with a local cop (my cousin). Missed the Boy Scout area. I think we were really just down there to shoot a lighthouse or something.

I love this place. Can you still get on premises to see the museum and other "public" historic bits? Last time I was there was just before it was decommissioned, and I had a lot of fun further up the island checking out the old gun batteries.

Did some historical research today, found out where the old O-Club was, some other cool stuff. I love old timey photos of places I've been!
