| | | from a few of the pictures I can deduct that it was never lived in. (Stove and microwave look clean, (Doesnt mean they are) and there is lumber laying around) Probably over ambitious with the wood, and the national forrest service got on to them about conservation. lol Seeing as securtiy is so tight, somebody probably still owns the place. They may have been building this as a retirement house or weekend getaway place, and then lost their job, ran out of funds, divorce, got caught with kiddie porn, jail sentence... You name it.

The place was immaculately clean but it had been lived in, there was ash in the fireplace and very, very faint outlines of pictures hanging on the walls in the sunroom. It definitely hadn't been lived in long though. The house did have a for sale sign out front but it's very old and in disrepair and I can't find any info on it in the realtors website.

| | | Way cool. You've got some balls to continue exploring knowing the cops and the rednecks were hot on your trail. Got some great shots in spite of it all. As for speculation on why the place is empty: judging from the region (a recreational lake located deep in the heart of Hickville) and the masculine tone of the house's decor, it would be my guess that this was the lakehouse of some construction big-shot before that industry went bust 3 or 4 years ago.
Everyone has secrets. It's just a matter of finding out what they are. |

| | | Great find, great shots (considering the circumstances)! As my username indicates, I've been viewing this site and not participating...but have finally felt compelled to register/post to let you (and everyone here) how enjoyable this place is for someone who is fascinated with this type of stuff (but doesn't quite have the get up and go to do it themselves)! Anyway, nice set and maybe one of these days I'll drop in to some local sites and break my UE cherry!

| | | Maybe one of the people (or person) who once lived there was murdered there? Or maybe committed suicide there? Maybe that could be the reason it's been vacated and uninhabited by anyone for so long.

| | | If someone here plans to visit this place and wants to be nice and do a REALLY good deed... maybe you could find a way up onto the roof and shove some chicken wire into the chimney opening. It would keep the birds out of the house and prevent a whole lot of starvation, broken necks, suffering and death. You'd have to bring some chicken wire with you when you go out there, or something else if you have any better or easier ways to accomplish this. And maybe a ladder, too. I know, it's asking a lot, but it would be the kind thing to do. * P.S. * I'd attempt to do it myself if I wasn't 2,200 miles away in Seattle.

| | | Looks like they've been maintaining the yard on a somewhat regular basis. My own yard is far more overgrown than that after a few weeks.

| | | I'm thinking for better results, I would have pre-dawned it, be harder for anyone to see anyone entering the property IMO.
