| | | Aw damn! You got a t2i! awesome. Umm.... Composition is a little of an issue and framing. 4 is the strongest shot here to me. The rule of thirds is a good start.

Actually I specifically bought this camera for it's stellar apatite range, from f1.8 to k7.9 [last edit 3/6/2012 8:09 AM by Captain_Slow - edited 1 times]

He should change his name to Stop2spellcheck. Congrats on the t2i, you'll love it. Get some good glass to go with it. Pretty good online guide to the basics: http://stopshootin...-lessons-in-order/

| | | These look like just random snapshots taken with a dSLR. There's nothing wrong with doing so, as we have all gone through that process. Keep practicing and spend some time learning the basics of exposure, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, from a technical point of view while learning about composition from the creative side of things. I would have to disagree with Stop2Think though, keeping aperture open all the time is horrible advice. There is a time and place when shooting wide open works, and there are times when it's undesirable.

Well said. It's crucial to practise depth of field, otherwise things get boring. [last edit 3/13/2012 9:38 AM by RunkPock - edited 1 times]

I've worked mostly photographing people and like the shallow depth of field a wide open aperture gives, but for urbex, many times there needs to be greater depth of field. This is something I need to work on and keep in mind for my pics.

HAHAHAHA!!! Too funny! I like this set. The only thing would be as already mentioned regarding composition and rule of thirds.

| | | I planned on buying this camera myself. Good quality DSLR. I'd look into some photography basics, cropping, rule of thirds, aligning, etc. If not, you're going to continue hearing the same thing from critiques on this forum. Looks like you're starting off okay, all of us started somewhere. Good luck with that camera and just practice. Also, some other may not like this, but have a look at other peoples photos. Look at how they processed and took their photos. Don't copy them, Develop your own style. Observing other peoples work may give you a better idea of where to start. | | | These are really great! #4 is my favorite. Although I wish all of them had less totally black areas. There are a lot of large areas in these photos that are jet black, which could have contained a lot more detail with a different exposure, or maybe even some really gentle HDR.
