| | Moving to Moscow, ID < on 12/16/2011 3:06 PM >
| | | Hi all! I am moving to Moscow, ID for a PhD program. I will be there for around 4 or 5 years, so, this means LOTS of time to explore the Pacific Northwest. I live in Minneapolis now, which I will miss dearly. But, yeah, I am really excited to get out of the Midwest. I will definitely come to some Seattle meet-ups, as Moscow is only about 5 hours away. If anyone is around the area and would like to explore, I will be out there in January!

| | | Well, I hope you're not too disappointed. ;) You're very lucky right now that Minneapolis, IMO, has one of the best places to explore and well organized exploration groups. But what we have here is truly beautiful and amazing countryside too. There are places in the PNW to explore, but not quite like where you're from. You'll want to concentrate on old buildings, old military compounds, we have a semi-abandoned never fully build "nuclear" facility and a great deal of underground missile bases as well as radar domes. Do some research and they're all somewhat accessible, some may be on private property, so ask permission first, etc etc. What we don't have is the vast underground sewage and tunnel system that you can easily get into. Our tunnels are pretty heavily closed off. Welcome to the PWN and maybe we'll see you around! Cheers! A.F.

Yeah, it really is sad leaving Minneapolis - I have been exploring here for a long time, and, although I was only peripherally part of the tight-knit explorer community, they are a really fun group of folks. And the city itself is a really nice place to live. Exploring military compounds, nuclear facilities and missile bases sounds amazing. But, I will need my underground fix. So, my Twin Cities soul will compel me get into sewage tunnels by any means necessary

| | | Yeah man, welcome. I moved out here from Minneapolis in May. It's not the same kind of scene out here, but you won't be disappointed. Stay active on the forum, and if you're lucky there will be a meetup that you can attend and meet fellow explorers. Once I got some numbers it really took off for me.

For sure. I will be doing lots of solo exploring until I meet some folks. There has to be something amazing hidden away.

Awesome! It seems like there are a lot of Minnesota transplants in the Pacific Northwest. I will keep my eye out for meet-ups and try to stay somewhat active on the forums.

| | | I am in Tri-cities, WA which is pretty close to you. Beginning explorer, and I haven't found a lot in the area so I can't offer much. But if you want some company on an outing feel free to PM me. Welcome to the PNW!

| | | I'm from the Tri Cities too and there really isn't a lot around there that I was able to find. However I do know of a an abandoned hospital in Colfax which is outside of Pullman. I've been there, its easy to get in but the neighbors keep an eye on it.
