Agreed, if it was you, and same if it was some other idiot. The music is catchy but I bailed half way through, everything seemed to be going downhill. WTF?

Post. Not posts. Yeah I modified a post, realized the next day the second part wasn't relevant.

Some people feel "exploring" actually means, destruction of property and/or theft. Locations getting burned? no way!?

| | | Yes heaven forbid we take out a brand new 7d to try out the video feature with a cute girl who wanted to paint a shark in a dilapidated warehouse filled with graf. I've been following the progress of this site for months, its pretty exciting when a new piece goes up, the graf writers hitting it are elite level. Maybe not the shark so much, but I saw no harm in this place.

There's nothing wrong with testing out a new camera. Hell, there's something wrong with NOT testing it out. Yeah its exciting when a new piece goes up, but not when its a kindergarten drawing. Some graffiti can be beautiful, but that shark was scribbling for the hell of defacing something. My point is its a little silly that you would post footage of immature antics that contribute to the negative association people make with explorers and abandonments. But hey, thats just me. I find your choice of photos ironic. Ninjalicious had respect for locations. I never had the opportunity to meet him but have read his book. He was a believer in leaving everything as you found it. Walls included. Anyway, I really don't want to get into a flame war with you. I prefer to keep trolls to 4chan and Lord of the Rings. Well maybe you didn't like her shark but I thought it was nice and she did put some effort into making it. She was displeased with the final result as well but I would hardly begrudge her on that. It was fun and harmless even wholesome. How do you think painters get better? As the old adage goes, practice makes perfect. Not sure I understand your lord of the rings or 4 chan reference.

Fair enough. Art is subjective. I guess ethics are too. Other people in this thread have asked what the song in the video is and I am curious as well. Is it Bassnectar?
4chan trolls = post just to piss someone off. Lord of the Rings troll = Mythical creature.

So really, it was all about putting up graffiti? Exploring is "to traverse or range over (a region, area, etc.) for the purpose of discovery". Taking someone to a location specifically for doing graf isn't so much exploring as simply a plan to vandalize (rationalize it however you feel, if you're painting the wall of a building you don't own or have permission to do so, it's vandalism). I doubt many people would be happy if someone "explored" the side of your car with spray paint or keys. There isn't any difference from one to the other, except how you choose to rationalize your right to deface property which isn't yours. [last edit 11/23/2011 9:58 PM by Jester - edited 1 times]

| | | You are on pretty shaky moral ground yourself Jester, considering you "rationalize" your right to trespass on property that isn't yours. How would you like it if someone explored your living room?

I don't know about him, but I'd offer the person some rum or beer. Impromptu explorer dance party!
