Visiting this place has become a risky idea in recent years. There were large numbers of illegal immigrants and addicts squatting the buildings and police raids.

| | | My God, I want to go here. Now. As described in the LDB, did the other building ever get preserved? Or has all of the complex been destroyed? [last edit 7/16/2011 6:05 PM by Harvestman - edited 1 times]
Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing. |

The main factory building is semi-demolished and the other is still standing but preserved isn't the right word to use. After the demolition, the vandals, squatters and scrapers there's not much left, at least not for a museum as were the original plans.

Not surprising. My sense while living there was that Athens was not very good at finding value in things built during the last century. I'm guessing the physical location of this place probably didn't help much either. If it's off of the main tourist route, or in the way of someone looking to put up another apartment block then you might as well kiss it goodbye.

I guess you're right if it's not ancient then it has no value! No, it's not a remote location it is close to the main urban railway and seen by thousands of commuters everyday. Why the former ministry of culture (!) decided to reduce it to rubble and then forget about it for years is beyond me.
