| | | As per SeikoLiz's suggestion who wants to meet up somewhere in MD in the coming weeks? Id prefer this weekend but I suppose others might have plans. I suggest somewhere in the city central to most people where's others can take public transportation to meet up and the like. Lets throw some ideas around holla!! | | | If you wait until the beginning of November I'll do my part to come down from Rochester. Many people on this site are looking for meets led by more experienced explorers and won't attend your event on account of your just having joined. However, I am looking for just this kind of meet so you can probably count me in.

| | | Whoooops. I should have specified. See if you can edit the subject on your original post and call it a "Meet and Greet" instead of "Meetup". "Meetup" has come to mean more of a multi-day, multi-location exploring free-for-all, as opposed to a casual coffee-shop meeting, which I think was the intention. Sorry for the mix-up! (and no need for secrecy for the coffee-shop kind) [last edit 9/3/2010 12:29 AM by Avius - edited 1 times]

N00b to the forums here... as a new user would I be able to get to a private post? (I don't think I would be able to.) From my understanding everyone would like a meet & greet as opposed to a group Urb-Ex trip. I'd be all for a meet & greet somewheres. This weekend is filling up fast for me though; between mini-trips, odds and ends, and typical weekend family things. If it's a time/place that doesn't jive for me please don't take it personally; I might just have to catch you guys next time. Then again it might work for me. Time-wise Saturday would be better; either early early, or around lunch. Chipotle in HV was mentioned previously; that would be easy for me... heck anything in HV/Timonium is relatively easy for me. But let me know what you guys come up with for possible meetups. I'm open to suggestions. bfinan0; the more the merrier. Heck, maybe another meeting in November too. I'm new to the forum, but have probably been doing Urb-Ex trips for about a year. I hope the lack of credentials doesn't shy the venerable explorers away.

I'll drop a note in the other forum to say that meet-n-greet convo was relocated to here.

| | | Wow, this idea picked up like mad... cool! But okay, yeah, more of a meet & greet, not a meet-up, you guys got that covered. RochesterMan, I don't think this would really be the venue for you, we're not actually planning on exploring at all, this is really just so we MD folk can meet face to face in a non-threatening scenario. A one-day, 2 or 3 hours thing, I figure, that's all. As for meet place, I think I suggested Fel's Point yesterday, place has tons of bars and little restaurants and such. Even the Inner Harbor would probably be okay, it's just a little more on the pricey side and a lot more touristy. I'd totally be ballin' to ride the light rail up to the Inner Harbor and walk to the point, plenty of chances for city shooting on the way, derp. This weekend might be a little too soon. Not that I really have anything planned, and if you guys wanna meet this weekend I'm not against the spontaneity, but keeping other people in mind it's kind of hard to act on 1 or 2 days notice. Maybe next weekend instead so people can prepare? The week after?
We didn't need a story. We didn't need a real world. We just had to keep walking. And we became the stories, we became the places. We were the lights, the deserts, the faraway worlds. We were you before you even existed. |

| | | i'm up for next weekend or the weekend after. We'd just have to nail down a place and especially a time since Hertz says he can only meet in early AM or lunch. It would kinda suck if he showed up and we were all late with his seemingly tight schedule.

| | | Okay, up to a vote since I don't know how people feel about the Inner Harbor vs. Fel's Point thing. Following are 2 different Starbucks we could meet at: If we do Fel's Point, the address would be 635 President Street, Baltimore, MD. I don't know how parking is, but it's a decent area compared the rest of Baltimore, certainly less of a tourism magnet than the Inner Harbor. If we do the Inner Harbor, the address would be 200 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD. It's the Inner Harbor, so there's a ton of (albeit expensive) parking and light rail service that pretty much pulls right up to the place. For time, is noon too late? 11am could be feasible too, just trying to give people a chance to wake up from their hangovers. Only other question is Saturday or Sunday?

I said that already, at the same time though I'm just hoping to find someone in the US or Canada that will explore with me, and I thought this seemed like a good enough place to look.

Your call, man. I would just feel bad if you drove all the way down here to chat with a couple strangers for 2 hours and then had to drive all the way back. Lots of miles. x.x

I don't drive, I'd have to take a train. And it's certainly a possibility for the second one if there's exploring at it.

| | | I up for the weekend of the 18-19th... next weekend I have an Urb-Ex trip already planned; sorry. Shockface; sorry I meant those weekend times I typed were just for this saturday because appointments were piling up. At this point I'll be up for a meet and greet, but probably not an Urb-Ex trip at the same time. Weekend of the 18-19th for me. Harbor/Fells would be fine; I just went down to Fells a few weekends ago for a competition photo shoot. Didn't win, but it was nice to get out. Anyways; let me know what you guys think.
