| | Steel Works on Windmill? < on 8/28/2010 7:16 PM >
| | | Driven past this thing over 9000 times, never thought to ask about it. Looks to be a huge steel mill, been empty for years from what I can remember. Any info on it?

| | | Dunno how recently street-view was photographed in that area, but the overhead door on the south end of the building is open, so I'm guessing someone, at least at that point, was doing something with it.

| | | Whenever people finish using it, they don't take any equipment out with them. I'd like to just see the equipment.

| | | I was in the Steel works yesterday - It's not used by Maritime Steel anymore, only to house some Cement for a contracting company (blocks for flooring). There is no interesting equipment in it, for sure. Mostly Empty.. but it IS being used all the time. Sorry to let you all down, but there's really nothing in there. On that note, the Neftegaz-29 was amazing inside (:

| | | I send out orders from my work for that place every now and then. Got one today actually, tried to steal a delivery car and take it down myself, but that didn't go so well.

| | | Unfortunately, didn't have my DSLR with me inside - but, I do have a friend who works there so I can see if there's any chance she can take some photos for me ;)

| | | I suppose you're right. I don't mean to say that the building's architecture was boring, but I was very excited to see old machinery or something of the like, so it wasn't half as exciting as I was hoping it would be. I have a friend who works there who said her boss would be willing to let us in and take some photos - I called him to doublecheck and work out details, and he replied the next day with "The owner would prefer no photos were taken, thanks bye". So.. not sure where to go from here. It's basically open doored during the day while it's in use, so I'm sure you could get a shot or two even from the parking lot through those bay doors.

| | | Getting in at night isn't hard. There's a good foot wide gap between the bottom of the door and the ground. I'm sure one could easily slip under it (last time I checked it out was during the day).
