Off to another adventure
| | Kamloops Naval Bunkers < on 8/7/2010 4:56 PM >
| | | I heard through a reliable source that there are old naval bunkers in Kamloops and that there is a secret hush hush project going on there where the workers have to sign a form keeping them from telling people what they are working on. I know someone who is on the site and they are working in a mine shaft 4km down. Sounds interesting so next time I'm down there I'll have to take a peek Here is a cool link that I found for all of you fellow EU's http://www.histori...play.aspx?id=12795

| | | ^ Lol. Thanks, um I don't like to give people a hard time, and like to avoid conflict; but he was trolling in foreign waters, razzing an enthusiastic newb for no reason.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! |

Damn straight! Kamloops is of strategic importance along the Fraser and Thompson Rivers! I mean, if it weren't for a naval base in Kamloops, those blasted Russkies may just park a bunch of nuclear submarines in Kamloops Lake!
Also, I'd like to point out that I'm not entirely certain these are still around at the moment. Pictures on the website are about 3 years old, and the area (at least according to google maps and street view) appears to be an active construction site. I would venture to say that these may not be there anymore. I'd consider sending some one in the Loops area to check it out, but he doesn't exactly enjoy wild goose chases anymore. | | | During WW2 they were worried about air attacks so they placed the depot in land. I've heard this place had an aerial tram to carry the ammo up the hill from the train tracks. They aren't really bunkers, but cement buildings that are covered with dirt after they were built. Identical structures were built all over Canada at the time and many are still in use. They're dark, musty, cold and make you feel like you're in a large root cellar. The US Navy built a place around the same time in Arkansas with over 600 bunkers. And abandoned it in the 50s. http://www.globals...ility/highland.htm
