| | | When i get them completed, I'll run you guys off copies. Here is a sample of what I'm trying to work toward. Any suggestions? I've got line sizes and types on it. Still got alot of work on them. EDIT: Sorry guys, that pic doesn't do it any justice at all. [last edit 6/10/2010 9:39 PM by Opheliaism - edited 1 times]

I've got a few maps myself too, though most of em are in my noggin
|
always best to keep em in your head in case the zombies learn how to read...
Those maps look pretty good man. I can't complain. In Dallas they are posted on the web check it out. http://www.wheredo...watershed_map.html These maps are cool, but they don't tell you what size and all that. [last edit 6/10/2010 9:44 PM by KingJalopy - edited 1 times]

| | | Well, should we just plan on meeting up under old I-44 instead? I think that most of us already know where it is and if anyone needs directions or anything they can message one of us. I still need to get some pics of the entrance sign on the west end nearest Hwy66.

Sounds good but, where are we all going to park? I can only think of one place to park, and there's not much room there. Anyone got a truck? We could throw a bunch of us in the back from somewhere in town (Catoosa) I know Fiend might/could volunteer! lol I used to have a truck, wanted one of those stickers that says,"Yes this is my truck, No I won't help you move."

| | | Looks like there should be enough places to park. Should be able to park on both ends of the overpass, and on the west end there is another service road that goes back south. Its kinda grown up alittle. Whoever it is has cut alot more out of that slope and hill where that picture you took was.

Sounds good, I'll prolly catch a ride with Fiend at any rate, or vice versa. BTW we found a place yesterday that might be cool to meet up underground, if you guys are into that.

| | | As a former Tulsan, I will certainly try to meet up with you guys if it becomes a regular thing. I did my first exploring in some abandoned houses near Utica Square (and got busted for the first time after exploring a high-rise rooftop near Riverside). If I may offer a suggestion, as the "official" (lol) meetup coordinator in Dallas: if you're looking at making it a monthly thing, you may want to consider having the *meetup* in a public place -- preferably a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, so everyone can get to know each other over food. (I'd pick Coney I-Lander, but that's 'cause that's the part of Tulsa I miss most.) Then follow up with an exploration *after* the meetup. This has one big advantage over meeting up at an exploration site: it lets you get to know each other *before* you find yourselves in a situation where you may face hazards such as snakes, cliffs, rotting floors, and/or Johnny Law. Our innocent little hobby can lead to some "interesting" situations, and you really need to know who you're with before you go off to someplace off-the-map. Also, it lets you meet other interested folks who may not have the time *that day* to spend a couple of hours picking goatheads off their shoelaces. That often includes old farts like me, who have some experience but also have other responsibilities -- like tomorrow in Dallas, when I've got a concert to go to with my son that night. Just my 2c, take it for what it's worth. (Just don't hold my residence against me, I'm still a Tulsan at heart!) Oh, and for the name... why not continue the palindromic goodness, and call it "Tulsa Madam, I'm Adam, a slut"

Well you just think you're hot shit huh? Lol. You have a good point though. Although, I seriously doubt we will be bothered on an abandoned highway, by anyone. AND its like I practically have to call the cops myself for them to show up and ruin my day of exploration around here. I personally dont mind where we meet up though, but I do enjoy air conditioning

Robert certainly brings up some good points, he does a good job of coordinating our Dallas meetups, even though I have never been... However, I'm with Fiend, you literally have to call the five-O yourself around here, and besides I think it would only really be like the 4 of us right? Fiend Cajun Surd and myself. Unless the out of towners are going to actually come. Other than, that we all know each other. IDK, just set it up and I'll go, I get bored easily up here...

| | | Well, if it's just folks that know each other, that's one thing. But if you make it an actual "event", then you're inviting folks you don't know. That's been a lot of fun -- you get to hear a lot of stories, some of which may actually be true! But if your meetup spot is out in the sticks, away from prying eyes... that's not exactly the sort of thing that someone new to the group is going to be comfortable with. Kinda like Craigslist, ya know? It would make it especially unlikely to make the meetup appealing for the awesomest creatures in existence: female urbexers. They like adventure, but they generally wanna know who they're adventuring with before the adventure starts. (Disclaimer: I'm still single (dammit), so maybe you shouldn't listen to any advice I may give related to the fairer sex. )

| | | I'm considering going, thanks for the invite! Sunday's are perfect for me since I don't work that particular day of the weekend. I'm not experienced though, and I don't want to slow you guys down. Now, the weekend of the 19th I will be getting in some experience but I'm new to this whole thing. Btw, I'm also interested in doing some draining with you guys @ some point. I just want to get my proverbial feet wet first.

You aren't going to slow us down, especially at the I 44 abandoned section, it's retarded how easy it is to not be messed with down there, or anywhere in Tulsa for that matter, besides the meet up is just so we can all get together and enjoy something we all love, not an elite group of peeps on a mission to climb Mt. Everest or something... lol
If it's draining you want to try, then we can definitely show you some awesome drains, Tulsa has some of the best out there, and in fact, Fiend and I found a rather interesting one we talked about coming to after the meet up for whoever is down. Plus NO ONE can mess with us down there, except that fucking dog!! Don't worry he's behind a fence, just really loud. Btw if you buy some rubber boots, your proverbial feet will not get wet.... I don't wear em lately, but I'm also the asshole who gets out of the drain and smells like shit, and is completely drenched.... Who wants to ride with me?! | | | lmfao, Mt Everest. Well, I don't want to be the annoying newbie, or female, in a situation. I would like to try draining, it fascinates me to possibly get to see what is below Tulsa. I've been trying to figure out if The Quah has any tunnels but haven't done much research on it yet. I'm really interested in buildings too and that is were most of my interesting has been. But, I admit, seeing all of the kick ass photos you guys can take in those drains makes me want to as well!

I'm afraid you're gonna have to venture to Tulsa for any kind of draining. I couldnt imagine there would be any drains in Tahlequah large enough to walk into, the town isn't big enough among other reasons. So I'm happy to be anyones friendly tour guide ;) But yeah, definitely a good idea to get water tight rubber boots if you wanna do draining around here, the water can get a certain oder to it.

as in rain boots or something different? I also need some good shoes/hiking boots anyway. I'm all for going draining the same day as the meet and greet if you guys would like.

Basically rain boots. Anything along the lines of the picture below is good. You can get several different styles at walmart or academy for around 20 bucks, and they'll keep ya nice and dry.
